Cambodia's Parliament Passes Deal to Send Laborers to Qatar

Cambodian lawmakers on 10 August 2012 unanimously adopted an agreement
in order to make way for the country to send labourers to Qatar. Ho Noun,
Chairwoman of Commission on Labor and Vocational Training at the National
Assembly, said that the manpower agreement between Cambodia and Qatar
aimed at strengthening and expanding friendly relationship and cooperation
between the two countries...

Cambodia Attracts 692 mln USD Investment in 1st 6 Months

Cambodia had issued licenses to 72 domestic and foreign investment projects
in equivalent to 692 million U.S. dollars in the first half of 2012, according
to a report of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) on 10
August 2012.
During the January-June period this year, domestic investment topped
the chart with a total venture of 148 million U.S. dollars in 12 projects...

China Firm Proposes three projects worth $6.5bn Deal

Chinese firms have huge ambitions for Cambodia, with a second firm this
week proposing three projects worth an estimated US$6.5 billion to the
National Assembly, but no deadlines were set for the implementation of
the projects, according to officials.

Cambodia had issued operating licenses to 51 new garment and footwear
factories with the total investment of $327 million in the first half
of this year, according to a report of the Council for the Development
of Cambodia in early August. The report recorded that 40 are garment factories,
8 are shoes manufacturers, 2 are sock makers and 1 is textile factory...

ASEAN States Invest 178 mln USD in Cambodia in H1

Cambodia has attracted the fixed asset investments of 178 million U.S.
dollars from its ASEAN member states in the first six months of this year,
according to a report of the Council for the Development of Cambodia on
Friday.
From January to June this year, the country granted licenses to four
projects from Thailand with the total investment of 84 million U.S. dollars,
four projects from Vietnam with 82.5 million U.S. dollars, and one project
worth 11.5 million U.S. dollars from Singapore, the report said...

National Bank of Cambodia Looks at Local Yuan Role

Bank of China is in negotiations with Cambodia’s Central Bank on
the promotion of business transactions in Chinese yuan. The official talks
reflect rapid trade growth between the two countries at a time when several
commercial banks in Cambodia have launched yuan remittance and trade-settlement
products.
The Chinese government has given tax benefits to Chinese companies that
have settled foreign trade in the currency since 2010..

Taiwan Bank obtains approval to open branch in Phnom Penh

The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), the top financial watchdog
in Taiwan, has issued the greenlight to E. Sun Commercial Bank to open
a branch in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The FSC said it has approved an application
from E. Sun Bank, the banking arm of E. Sun Financial Holding Co., to
seek regulatory approval from Cambodia for the establishment of the branch...
